What is professional practice for an artist? There are as many ways of defining this as there are ways of making art - every artist has their own way of working, supporting their practice and sharing their work with others. Taking care of business starts with taking care of yourself, your work and your relationships with fellow artists and arts workers and the larger arts ecosystem. Exchanging information, resources and skills is a necessary part of building a sustainable artistic practice, and benefits both the individual and the community.
This website and accompanying zine is a collaborative project created by students in the Spring 2024 Professional Practice class at PNCA as an exercise in researching and sharing resources with fellow students, with the intention of passing it along to be added to and updated by future classes.
Big thanks to all of the students for their willingness to join me in this experiment, their creativity, generosity, and cooperation in a collaborative effort on a short timeline. I hope this zine and website will be an inspiration to current and future students to continue sharing resources with each other during their time in school and throughout their artistic lives.
